Welcome to the CHU website

KTH and IVL in cooperation: Centre for Sustainable Development (CHU) was established the 1st of July 2006. It is a cooperation between the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) and IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute. It was initiated by KTH's former Rector Anders Flodström and IVL's Managing Director Björn Lundberg when IVL's new premises were inaugurated on KTH's campus.

KTH's and IVL's competences within the area of sustainability are well utilized by a close cooperation in several pre-studies. One purpose with CHU's work is to quickly develop high-qualified project proposals, with a high validity for the market. The work is mainly focused against the Stockholm region, where external partners are identified for performing projects within the field of sustainability. Working groups are established within areas as e.g. water treatment, renewable vehicle fuels, sustainable building, recycling of polymeric materials and zero-emission facilities.
